The Old Dominion Boat Club - Select Fall Rowing 9/27/2008
The history of Alexandria rowing began with the Old Dominion Boat Club (ODBC). Founded in 1880, the ODBC is the one of the oldest boat clubs in the United States. The Club was formed by a group of Alexandrians to promote recreational water activities on the Potomac. Rowing was the primary activity, and boats were available to members to row up and down the river. BU Crew Flood Relief 9/26/2011
If you would like to help, please contact president@binghamtoncrew.org for more information. All donations are tax-deductible as HIBC is a non-profit organization. The Binghamton University Crew team was devastated, like much of the community, by the terrible flood of 2011. The boathouse they share with the Hiawatha Island Boat Club has to be completely refurbished inside and out. Thankfully many of their boats were unaffected, but a few boats sustained minor damage. Despite being the largest club at Binghamton and a dedicated team, they can truly use all the help they can get. I am unaffiliated with Binghamton University and the team.
