2017 Outlook
"Last year saw Fairfield represented at the IRA for the first time in school history. The performance resembled a crew suffering a bit of shock and awe at the magnitude of the competition arena they found themselves in. While humbling, it still proved a great learning experience and the plan is to return sharper and better prepared to race against the college elites. With a new coach and a team in the process of a rebuild with plenty of young guys needing support, a great weight of responsibility is being shouldered by our seniors and juniors but they understand what they need to do and are ready to help the program continue to develop."

2017 Outlook
"After a roller coaster ride of performances and results in the fall plus the disappointment of not getting an entry to the Head of the Charles everyone is keen and committed to taking the best parts of our autumn races and learn from our mistakes to put together a run of quality effort towards the peak that is the MAAC Championship in the middle of May. The MAAC has been improving in leaps and bounds every year since automatic qualification began and we are focused on being a recognized program at the top end of the conference which means we too have to keep improving or we will get left behind. While we have kept traditional races in our schedule, racing conference rivals Sacred Heart, Iona and Manhattan and attending the Spring Metropolitan Regatta we have added a fun early season dual with Smith College, we will return to the intense battle that is the Knecht Cup and have accepted the challenge of taking on the Black Rock Cup in Buffalo hosted by Canisius which will see 4 of the top 5 programs from last year’s MAAC Championship do battle in a double dual towards the end of April – unless it’s still frozen up North!"
