2012 Outlook - MIT’s lightweight women will open the 2012 spring season on March 31st at the San Diego Crew Classic, a trip that will mark the team’s first ever appearance at the prestigious west coast regatta. Tech will have the chance to line up against perennial contenders Stanford and Tulsa, international power British Columbia, and new challenger UC Berkeley. After a weekend off, on April 14th and 15th, Tech will attend the Knecht Cup Regatta, another two-day event with ample competition which has historically featured strong racing from Wisconsin, Bucknell, Buffalo, and University of Massachusetts. In 2011, Tech advanced to the grand final of the lightweight four and eight, placing 3rd and 6th, respectively. On April 21st, Tech hosts Wisconsin, Stanford, and Buffalo with Radcliffe on the Charles. On April 22nd, MIT and Radcliffe contest the Muri Cup for the third consecutive year. With a big push at the end of the regular season, Tech will send a lightweight eight and four to the Dad Vail Regatta in Philadelphia and finish the weekend racing on Sunday, May 13th at EAWRC Sprints in Cherry Hill, NJ with the entire squad on the water. If selected, Tech will send a lightweight eight and four to the IRA in Cherry Hill, NJ on May 31-June 2. "
