"We have a young team that will need to build its confidence through racing. The freshmen and sophomores have potential to make a real impact as varsity rowers after they've gotten a few races under their belts. The 2009 NCAAs gave our team its first taste of the national championship. We've been hungry to build on that experience and get faster since the minute we left Camden last year."

"There are no superstars on this year's Dartmouth varsity squad, but there are a number of rowers who are capable of contributing to fast boats. The parity within the team is greater than it has been in a long time. To the extent that the rowers are able work together to produce crews that are greater than the sum of their parts, we'll succeed."

"The 2010 Dartmouth Heavyweights are a mix of youth and experience. We have strong leadership from our captain and five seniors and a lot of potential in a big sophomore class and an eager group of juniors. Competition for seats in the varsity and second varsity crews will be fierce for the first time in a long time, and that will prepare the squad well for a demanding dual schedule."

row2k Interview - Dartmouth's Tanner Mathison row2k kicks off our coverage of the 2010 Collegiate racing season with an interview with Dartmouth junior Tanner Mathison. Mathison's father Ralph was a former rower and coach and passed away when Tanner was a boy. In the past two years since Tanner discovered rowing, he's built a connection with his father through the shared experience of the sport.
