Current and past supporters!

Dear row2k readers and supporters:

Now that the fall racing season is drawing to a close, row2k is kicking off our fall fund drive for 2008.

Some brief testimonials:
Thanks for everything you do. Your site is a great service to rowing. - Steve

Hi guys, love your website. It has drawn me back to rowing. - Lee

Keep up the great work; I'd certainly miss my twice-a-day fix of row2k. - James

Just a quick note to thank you for the GREAT Olympic coverage. It was the first place we went to for accurate results and the only place for real background information. - Mike

Ed, we find we can't live without you. We awake each day hungrily searching for rowing news in the mass media, only to be disappointed by the pushers of pro sports. What do we get? Millimeters of column space even following the largest events in our beloved sport. Our hunger builds until row2k rewards us with updated results, "just-ins" and "news of the odd." What would we do without you? Whatarewegonnadoaboutit? Send more dough, of course. - Will

I Love You Guys - cheers. - Anonymous
row2k continues to grow; this year we saw our biggest audiences every weekend. Over the couple years, we have gone from strength to strength, from our all-out effort at the Olympics to our ongoing breaking coverage of events and issues that only row2k can or will do. A lot of folks rely on row2k for everything from news of friends and family to photos of themselves, and we believe we’ve earned your support; we darn near wreck ourselves to bring you all this every day.

If you:

  • follow your team, kids, rankings, championship runup, and more on row2k
  • get crucial updates on upcoming events on row2k
  • enjoy the dozens to hundreds of photos we put up after every regatta we attend, for free and without registration or marring watermarks;
  • send email postcards to your friends and family;
  • count on row2k for regatta schedules, results and announcements, or even de facto regatta management;
  • followed the Olympics on row2k;
  • email your results to your school, club, friends, and family;
  • have bought and sold equipment using our Classifieds;
  • have found or filled a job using our Classifieds;
  • count on row2k to keep up with the world of rowing;
please participate in our fund drive, and support the site! Magazines have paying subscribers, associations have paying members - row2k needs supporters to keep the service afloat.

With tens of thousands of readers, we have only a few hundred supporters; we hope to push that number into the four-figure range, at least. Participation in our fund drive has increased, but on the whole we do see the same small core of loyal supporters every year, while readership continues to climb into the stratosphere.

We serve every constituency of rowing, without prejudice; from novice regattas to the Olympics, we cover it all. And of course more goes on than you see on the site; emails about equipment, recruiting, long lost friends, club contacts, advice for beginners; all are part of the broader service row2k provides from my crowded desk. If you have benefited from this, please get involved.

A VERY large number of people use the site every single day; row2k, and everyone else, is counting on you folks!

It won’t take much - if the supporter list went from 500+ to 1000 people, that’s a huge jump; if tens of thousands sent a five dollar bill in the mail, that’s an immense jump. If everyone who reads the site sent in five bucks, well, we'd be doing okay, and you can rely on us to pour it back into the service. If folks really get behind this, I promise you will see the results.

We run the site on multiple, very small revenue streams; managing all these discrete side businesses results in a “back office” effort that is massive. We like to say that row2k is a 1.25 person operation; two of us work on the site, and both maintain day jobs to keep bringing it to you. We’re getting tuckered, and need help.

If you don’t want to hassle with credit cards and checks, please feel free to drop a bill in the mail. If you write your name on a post-it, a card, on the envelope, even right on the bill, I’ll post it in our list of contributors. Anything that makes it easier for folks to support us, I’ll do it.

If you would prefer to pay by check, send contributions to:
