The St. Thomas University Mens and the Creighton University Women's Crews dominated the competetion on their way to winning the team titles at the third annual Upper Midwest Collegiate Sprints. The poor conditions did little to hamper the spirits of these two programs as they made their final tune ups for this weeks Midwest Championships. With temps in the mid 30's, a steady rain, and steady winds of 20mph with gust to 30mph the start varied slighty for each race but was about 1900M for all races. Conditions changed from race to race due to the strong and varied winds. Which blew directly across the course. Although rough there were no white caps.
The St Thomas won five of six races on their way to winning the Mary Gene McAughan trophy for the second year in a row. The Creighton University Women were lead by their lightweights who remain undefeated ( 5-0) this spring and are looking towards This weeks race against #1 Wisconsin. Creighton University's women also dominate the field winning six of nine race as they brought the Roberta Rae Becker trophy back to Omaha.
