Scott Laio Memorial Golf Tournament
Submitted by: Marci Robles
(September 24, 2011)
I graduated from Boston College in 2006. I was a coxswain for the men's team. Scott Laio, the BC rower who passed away after winning Dad Vails in 2005, was one of my teammates. This past weekend, the Chestnut Hill Rowing Association (CHillRA), a non-profit run by BC Crew alumni, held the 4th annual Scott Laio Memorial Golf Tournament in Chestnut Hill, MA. The proceeds from this tournament, and the evening event that follows it, go to support the men's team, which is a club. Right now, the players in the golf tournament are generally Scott's teammates, BC Crew alumni, and Scott's family and friends. We're continuously working to expand our efforts and reach out to the rowing community at large. I think having this photo on row2k will help bring attention to the event. This weekend has turned into a wonderful celebration of Scott's life and we'd like to share that with others.

Susquehanna Flooding
Submitted by: Dagny Leininger
(September 15, 2011)
The Susquehanna River at Sunbury, Pa crested at a bit over 31 feet. Monday we, Central Pennsylvania Rowing Association(CPRA), moved our boats to high ground. Susquehanna and Bucknell Universities did the same. Flooding and road closures did not keep CPRA's die hard rowers from the river. While the course may be short and full of hazards and only one rower can row at a time , it certainly improves ones turning around skills.
