Sunday's Jog for Jill was a tremendous success as over 5,000 people attended and more than $312,000 was raised. Jill Costello is definitely smiling up in heaven. Thanks to everyone in the rowing community for your support. It has meant a lot to our team and Jill's family. Jogs for Jill are planned across the country, and it would be terrific to add more members to Team Jill. check out http://lungcancerfoundation.org.

Iceberging

I was recently on a cruise on a small boat in Alaska and was surprised to learn that the captain of the ship had a concept2 on board to keep fit for longer sea voyages. After he learned that I was a rower (and we had a long conversation about training and nutrition), he agreed to let me use the erg during the cruise. One day we were slowly cruising through a glacial melt and I mentioned how it would be funny to go erg on an iceberg. The captain took me seriously, and 5 minutes later I was dressed in foul weather gear (it was raining and pretty cold outside) and was on board a small raft with the captain and the erg. We found a relatively flat iceberg and he dropped me (and the erg!) off so that I could do a 500 meter piece on the iceberg. Maybe not the fastest 500 I have ever done, but certainly the most unique! Thought you guys would get a kick out of it.
Cheers!
p.s. The photo credit goes to Dean Rand (the captain of the ship who dumped me on the iceberg and was nice enough to pick me up when my piece was done...)
