Row for Boston

(April 30, 2013)
225 rowers from six Boston schools competed in the Women's Beanpot today on the Charles River Sunday morning as part of the Row For Boston. Teams from Boston College, Boston University, Harvard- Radcliffe, Holy Cross, Northeastern and MIT went head to head in five events, all wearing identical Row For Boston shirts. On Saturday the Lightweight Women's crews from Harvard- Radcliffe and MIT did the same. The idea for the teams to bond together was conceived of by Radcliffe Lightweight rower Corinne Wee. Proceeds from the sale of shirts goes to the Boston Children's Hospital Emergency and Trauma Fund. In partnership with USRowing and Boathouse Sports, shirts are being sold nationwide and teams from across the country are showing support for Boston while competing through May. Shirts are available at bostonstrong.boathousegreat.com.

literally, tens of coxswains.

Mike, my fiance, and Melissa, my maid of honor, took on the job of figuring out wedding cake. They told me it would be a surprise. It looks a little violent to non-rowers, but to ORC, that is clearly one of our blades throwing grooms cake backsplash onto my wedding cake.

Here is a photo of the Navy 3rd Freshman boat in "Ego Alley". I took this at 0650 on Wednesday 10 April. It was an unusually calm morning on the Severn River, so we rowed into the Chesapeake bay and down to the boat slips of Ego Alley. In the background is the waterfront shops of down town Annapolis and the Maryland State Capital.
