Rowing in the Bahamas

(January 20, 2013)
I'm Kyle Chea, interim President of the Nassau Rowing Club in Nassau, Bahamas, the first rowing club in The Bahamas. My crew and I were out this morning, and our launch driver snapped this great shot of our scullers rowing into the sunrise on our home water of Lake Cunningham in Nassau. It would give our nascent club a great boost to have this as Picture of the Day, and I would be grateful if it could be considered as such.

Shells in Senegal
Submitted by: Timothy Moore
(January 4, 2013)
I am living in Dakar, Senegal on a year long fellowship that I got from Harvard University after graduating last spring. I was the 6 seat in Charley's Varsity Lightweight 8+ and while I am exploring other life interests I am still always on the lookout for signs of crew culture over here. A few weeks ago I visited the city of Saint-Louis (pronounced with a French accent) which used to be the colonial capital of all of French West Africa. As I was walking through town I stumbled on these shells: two singles and a double. I couldn't figure out whose they were or what the story was behind them from the locals. It's a shame they are seemingly completely disregarded as of now but I am hoping to get in touch with the head of the Canoeing and Rowing Federation here to let him know they are there. Maybe someone on Row2k knows something more about them? An interesting scene nonetheless.
