After attempting to compete in the Scullers' Head of the River in England in November of '03 (it was cancelled at the last minute), I took a few days out to go to the Cinque Terra region of Italy, which is made up of five 12th century villages nestled in the steep hills along the coast of northwest Italy (super cheap -holiday apartment was only $40 a night!).
Imagine my surprise when I came across this great advertisement for the 'Rower's Cafe'(can't remember the Italian translation) in Manarola (where I was staying). It was painted on the side of an old wooden canoe with an arrow pointing to the direction of the cafe. I thought that it would be fun for others to see - not often do you see rowing pizzas (and a pizza coxswain)! Maybe it should be the new logo for the Pete's in Philly - the famous rower's hangout!

The regatta course at Lake Lenape in Mays Landing, NJ. The photo was taken on March 31, 2007 before the start of the Lenape Sprints regatta. To the right is the 1940's vintage lighthouse in front of the Lenape Park regatta spectator area. This was the first year for 6 lane buoy system, which was fabricated and installed by several dozen volunteers from the local rowing community.

March 2008 - Vancouver College (High School) Lightweight Men's 4+/False Creek, Vancouver BC.
In the backdrop is the site of the Olympic Athletes Village for the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics. There are currently 14 cranes at the construction site. From the coach boat at the spot the picture was taken, I can count 32 construction cranes working on the athlete?s village, a subway line and various residential buildings.
