Sorry to cry in public, but you've gotta give credit where it is due, Middlesex GV4+ was an eight seed (of 18) at NEIRA, winning their final stacked with perennial powerhouses by a deck length (2.5 sec) for their first win in 35 years with the third fastest winning time on record for their event at NEIRA. Wasn't this "only a crew's performance during the previous week will be taken into account during selection"? They didn't even get past the initial screening. They were not expected to even make it to the finals, and they came back after not winning their heat. Not to take away from Exeters MV8 win, but Exeter was the second seed in their event. Is it really a big surprise when a 2nd seed wins? BTW Middlesex raced the next race after the Exeter MV8, in identical conditions.
