The countdown runs. Five international men's eights come together in the northern German city of Rendsburg from September 28th to 30th 2007. The German national-eight races the E.ON Hanse-Cup title-defending crew from the USA, Great-Britain, The Netherlands and Switzerland. All coaches are sending strong line-ups with their World-Championship athletes.
Exactly four weeks after the World-Championships in Munich, the eights finished second, third and fourth come together again, racing two crews trying to qualify for the 2008 Olympics next year: The Netherlands and Switzerland.
The event takes place on the busiest artificial waterway in the world with more than 110 container-ships every day. The traffic on the Kiel-Canal (connecting the North- and Baltic Seas) is calmed down during the races which produces a unique scenery with ships of more than 200 metres length behind the international rowing eights.
150.000 spectators are expected to cheer at the banks of the Canal in the 7th edition of the event.
