PRINCETON, N.J. - Following her bronze medal finish in the women’s single sculls at World Rowing Cup #2 in Eton Dorney, Great Britain, Eleanor Logan (Boothbay Harbor, Maine) has officially accepted her invitation to represent the United States at the 2013 World Rowing Championships in Chungju, South Korea August 25-September 1.
Logan is scheduled to compete at the final World Rowing Cup #3 July 12-14 and then return to the U.S. before traveling to South Korea.
“I am looking forward finishing off my European trip with the third World Cup in Lucerne and then having the opportunity to racing in South Korea later this summer,” Logan said.
Logan’s podium finish at World Cup #2 was her second single sculls medal, in as many international competitions. The two-time women’s eight Olympic gold medalist won bronze earlier this spring at the 2013 World Cup #1 in Sydney, Australia.
“The single is unique in that, it's only me moving the boat and therefore it has forced me to become much more aware of my body, how I apply my power and how every movement has an impact on boat speed, both good and bad,” she said. “When it comes to racing, I plan on approaching it as I have always done in the past, and that isn't any different.”
Logan is the second crew to be named to the U.S. National Team.
California Rowing Club’s men’s quadruple sculls crew of Hans Struzyna (Seattle, Wash.), Andrew Gallagher (Phoenix, Ariz.), Derek Johnson (Hillsborough, Calif.) and Ryan Shelton (Wrightwood, Conn.) was named following its trials win on June 26.
A full 2013 U.S. National Team roster will be announced August 9. The Senior World Championship Trials take place August 4-7 in West Windsor, N.J.
