PRINCETON, N.J. - The Princeton Training Center duo of Laura Rauchfuss and Kelly Salchow won the second final of the women's double sculls to earn a spot on the 2003 World Championships Team on the final day of competition at the 2003 World Championships Trials for Olympic-class Boats. Rauchfuss and Salchow will now compete at the world championships August 24-31 in Milan, Italy.
The PTC crew clocked a 7:32.51 to finish 6.03 seconds ahead of the Pocock duo of Carol Skricki and Anne Browning, who stroked a 7:38.54. Potomac Boat Club's Katie Madigan and Catherine Humblet finished third with a time of 7:46.17.
Rauchfuss and Salchow now join yesterday's winners from the men's single sculls, women's single sculls, men's double sculls and men's pair, as well as the three crews that qualified at the 2003 Bearing Point World Cup stop last month in Munich, on the 2003 World Championships squad. National Team Trials in 10 more events will be held July 22-27 in Camden County, N.J., while the remaining six boats will be named by the national team coaches on or before August 4.
