British Rowing
Fast-paced Friday in store for Eton Dorney Spectators
Organisers of the World Rowing Cup at Eton Dorney have produced a new and fast-paced racing schedule after todays official draw.
Time gaps between racing have been shortened to five from seven minutes to avoid gusty conditions predicted later in the day.
The action will still kick-off at 09.00 with heats of the para-rowing classes, featuring 2008 Paralympic Champion Tom Aggar but the morning session will now conclude at 12.15 with the excitement of a mens eights race which will feature two GB crews as well as a top contenders from Poland and France and the Czech Republic.
The worlds top lightweight single scullers will open the afternoon programme at 14.00 with the afternoon schedule closing out at 16.24.
Between times there will be a feast of 20 races concluding with further prelims in the para-rowing classes.
Saturdays schedule now includes 7 B Finals with the crews battling for 6-12th places. For those that have not yet bought tickets there is some great racing on the race card.
We are an outdoor sport so these kind of things happen and we have to constantly monitor the weather to make sure we have the best possible conditions for racing, said Ben Hunt-Davis, Chairman of the Organising Committee. We think the changes we have made so far mean that each session still has its fair share of exciting racing.
