PRINCETON, N.J. - USRowing has invited 14 collegiate rowers to attend its 2010 Men's Pre-Elite Camp this summer, the organization announced on Wednesday.
The USRowing Men's Pre-Elite Camp is focused on developing athletes for the Under 23 and Senior National Teams. The goal of the camp is to teach skills necessary to compete at the elite level by introducing sculling, focusing on small boats, developing technical skills, learning physiology basics, training with athletes of a similar caliber and racing together in competition. This camp is for the collegiate athlete that has physiological potential and the desire to develop into a future national team rower.
The USRowing Men's Pre-Elite Camp will be held June 9-July 18 in Oklahoma City, Okla. Athletes will compete at the USRowing Club National Championships and train alongside the current residents at the Oklahoma City National High Performance Center. Selected athletes will have an option to continue to race at the Canadian Henley Regatta and National Selection Regatta #3. USRowing coaches John Parker and Jeremy Ivey will run the camp. The USRowing Men's Pre-Elite Camp will utilize Dartfish Video Analysis, BioRow Visual Immediate Feedback System (virtual reality goggles for rowing) and physiological testing.
