VICTORIA, Thursday, May 12, 2016 - Rowing Canada Aviron (RCA) announced today the four athletes to compete in the FISA Final Olympic Qualification Regatta for the Rio 2016 Olympic Games. Julien Bahain, Will Dean, Rob Gibson and Pascal Lussier will compete in the men's quadruple sculls in Lucerne, Switzerland from May 22 to 24, before the start of World Rowing Cup II.
The Final Olympic Qualification Regatta will see the men's quadruple sculls competing against a field of six crews for a spot at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games. The crew last competed in Varese, Italy at the first World Cup where they finished with a silver medal.
Canada qualified six boats for the Olympic Games and one for the Paralympic Games at the World Rowing Championships in September 2015.
RCA, alongside the Canadian Olympic Committee, will announce the team of athletes competing at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games on Tuesday, June 28 in Toronto. RCA will also host media availabilities at training camps in Guelph and London, Ontario on July 23. Details for all media events will be released closer to the dates.
