The 54th HOCR will be the last time the event will be held on a single weekend. To accommodate the ever growing capacity at HOCR, the event will now take place on multiple weekends beginning in 2019. Sculling events will now take place on the antepenultimate Sunday of October, with remaining sweep events taking place on the traditional penultimate weekend in October. With increased capacity the lottery process will be discontinued and entries will be served on a first come, first serve basis until event capacity (85 hulls) is met.
Inspired by the increasing demand of autonomous cars, we are excited to announce a new event of self-steering boats. Athletes who are unable to acquire a cox for their boat will be placed into a self-steering boat event. Shells will be equipped with GPS technology that controls the rudder based on course input. HereNow has been developing the technology and will be 'piloting' at sprint races this spring/summer.
