PRINCETON, N.J. - USRowing has announced its Row to Rio Logo Design Competition building up to the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.
Open to the public, the competition offers contestants a chance to win a U.S. National Team gear package and the chosen design will be the face of the Row to Rio campaign through the 2016 Olympics, featured on websites, team and fan gear, banners, boats, press releases and sponsor activation plans.
"Our rowing community exudes creativity and we are excited to provide this opportunity for a rower to design the symbol for Row to Rio, which will be used through the 2016 Olympic Games," said Beth Kohl, Chief Marketing Officer of USRowing.
As with last year's successful Row to London campaign, which contributed to the team's historic Olympic performance, the Row to Rio campaign is designed to support the team and engage rowing's fan base.
"Rowers are well adept at putting their creative resources to good use to showcase the personality of their team, often designing new gear every season and for important races. It is great fun seeing their work at regattas," said Kohl. "We're expecting to see some exciting logo designs, and the winner will be the visual representation of our U.S. team over the next quadrennial."
Contestants are required to submit entries to [email protected] by February 27, 2013, at 11:59 p.m. EST. A selection committee will determine the finalists and the rowing community will have a chance to vote and help decide the winner. The winning design will be announced by the end of March.
