Cambridge University Boat Club is delighted to announce that its Chief Coach Steve Trapmore has been invited to, and has accepted, the role of High Performance Coach within the GB Olympic Rowing program and will be working alongside GB Chief Coach, Jurgen Grobler, day to day.
Steve Trapmore said: "I am thrilled to become part of the GB High Performance coaching team. It is a great opportunity and I look forward to bringing a unique blend of athletic and coaching experience. Right now I am focused on supporting the CUBC squad and fully intend to maximize the impact through to The Cancer Research UK Boat Race 2018. I shall of course be sad to leave CUBC after working with so many fantastic students and alumni and seeing so much positive change."
Steve will see the current campaign out to the 2018 Race day, and will then join the GB Squad at Caversham. Over the 8 Boat Race campaigns he has been with us, Steve has made an immense contribution to Cambridge Rowing through what has been a very challenging period. We have seen Club records falling year by year, and our athletes racing and medalling at Senior World Championships, all underpinned by the solid program and system that Steve has put in place.
The Club wishes to record its immense gratitude for everything that Steve has done as Chief Coach, and we wish him every success in his future role.
