Kieran West, former Olympic champion and Light Blues President, will stroke Cambridge University's eight in the E.ON Hanse Canal Cup on the Kiel Canal this Saturday (7 October).
West will lead the Cambridge squad into their first competitive race of the season in an event which includes the German national eight, who are world champions and feature two current Light Blues, Sebastian Schulte and Thorsten Engelmann.
Returning Blues Tom James and Kip McDaniel are also part of the Cambridge line-up which will be coxed by Russell Glenn.
The Light Blues face opposition not only from the World Champions but also American, British and Dutch crews.
The British eight includes three former Oxford Blues, Andy Hodge, Peter Reed and Tom Parker.
The Canal Cup is part of a wider festival and over 150,000 spectators are expected to line the banks to watch the action this weekend.
