Boathouse Sports, the Philadelphia-based manufacturer of leading-edge custom athletic apparel, today announced that its cutting edge "SHARK SKIN" rowing vest is now available to elite rowers. The "SHARK SKIN" is Boathouse's take on the rowing vest, using highly breathable TxM fabric on the front and Boathouse's proprietary Pro-Tech® fabric in the back and is uniquely designed to keep a rower warm yet wick away unwanted moisture and dissipate heat while training in cold weather. The Boathouse Shark Skin was developed for the U.S. National Rowing Team to meet their need for a lightweight, weatherproof and flexible rowing vest
"The Boathouse Shark Skin Rowing Vest is the next evolution in cold weather rowing gear. Some people train like turtles, this vest is designed for those who want to eat up the competition like a shark," said John Strotbeck, Founder of Boathouse Sports and former Olympic rower. "Competitive rowing apparel has and will always be the foundation on which our company prides itself on. We are always looking for new fabrics and continuously push the design envelope to meet the needs of our customers."
Boathouse Sports has been working with the U.S. National Team since February of 2009 to design, develop and test rowing specific products (unisuits, rowing trou's, rowing jackets and training gear) in preparation for the 2012 Olympic Games in London, England.
"Our new relationship with U.S. National Rowing Team has been paying dividends in both competition and product development," said Doug Tibbetts, President and Chief Executive Officer of Boathouse Sports. "The Shark Skin vest is just one of many products we developed for the world's most elite rowers and we will be making available to all our customers over the next year."
