North Stonington, CT, January 23, 2019 -- The National Rowing Foundation (NRF) today announced that at its 2019 Annual Meeting six new members were elected to its Board of Directors:
F. Avery Bourke (Greenwich, CT), David A. Burke (Rowayton, CT), Hilary Bedford Parkhurst (Greenwich, CT), Cindy Rusher (West Bend, WI), Armins Rusis (Manchester, MA) and Sarah Garner Wolf (Singapore/Madison, WI).
"Our newest board members have a strong set of skills that will help the NRF grow with a passion to continue our mission to support our national team. This new group of directors, while all strong advocates of the sport, consists of both rowers and non-rowers as the NRF seeks to broaden is its base of supporters. Their rowing involvement spans the life of our sport from junior to Olympic to masters and some are parents of junior athletes who represent the future of our sport. They bring strong business backgrounds and a wealth of knowledge working on other boards with significant experience in raising funds. I'm delighted that they have chosen to become part of the team," said NRF Co-chair Jamie Koven.
"We look forward to working with these six exceptional Board Members. Each one brings a special set of skills to our organization and we are certain that their impact will be significant and immediate," said NRF Board Co-chair Marcia Hooper. Board terms for this incoming group will run from 2019 until 2022.
The Board of Directors also wishes to thank retiring Board Members Christian Ahrens (Brooklyn, NY), Murray Beach (Westwood, MA) and Jason Gailes (San Francisco, CA).
