Canada's adaptive LTA4+ (legs, trunk and arms coxed four) advances to the finals after finishing second in the repechage today at the Paralympic rowing regatta in Beijing, China.
Great Britain won the rep in 3:44.90, with Canada taking the next qualifying spot in 3:48.76.
Great Britain took the lead early in the race and Canada and Brazil fought it out for second place. It was neck and neck until Canada pulled out in the closing few metres. Brazil (3:49.76) is relegated to the B final.
"We were a lot better today (over yesterday's heat), but I can see where we can still make improvements. It was a very positive day for us," said coach Anne-Renee Thibault. The finals are held tomorrow.
The Mixed Coxed Four is Meghan Montgomery of Winnipeg, MB, Vicky Nolan of Toronto, ON, Scott Rand of Calgary, AB, Tony Theriault of Victoria, BC, and coxswain Laura Comeau of St. Catharines, ON.
Also today, Steve Daniel of Val Therese, ON, finished fourth (06:09.37) in the repechage of the Arms Only event and will compete in the B Final on Thursday, and the Mixed Double Sculls crew of Caitlin Renneson of Ottawa, ON, and Wilfredo More Wilson of Toronto, ON, finished fifth in the repechage (5:12.47) and will also race in the B Final.
