Crew member Tom Beetham added, "We are ready to drive off the blocks and define Old Glory's first strokes."
The Championship Eight will field the core of the 1999 Gold Medal Lightweight Eight; the crew consists of Sean Kammann, Greg Ruckmann, Tom Auth, Eric Den Besten, Kevin Cotter, Andrew Hilton, John Cashman and Nicholas Tripician. Stroke seat Sean Kammann said, "We realized this is our 4-year reunion; we are not the traditional 5 or 10 year reunion types." Eric Den Besten, Officer Steward of Old Glory Boat Club said, "We are happy to kick off the Old Glory Boat Club here on the Charles River, a regatta we hold dear, and where most of us started our rowing careers. The Regatta continues to deliver challenging competition and a reunion feel. We are honored to help create a platform which will extend far beyond our World Championship and Olympic performances to help future U.S. National Teams."
