The song I heard early in the morning walking to my first 2500mk at Larkins Hall was 'Welcome to the Jungle' by Guns N Roses. That has started my 2K's ever since.

Great choice! Thought of another good one from the 80s - "Darling it Hurts" by Paul Kelly and the Messengers. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=arKDY5tKKOc

Recently I've been digging what I guess some people could call dubstep while working out (but don't criticize me if that genre does not define any of these songs), so my favorites for now are as follows: From the University of Washington rowing video - Heartbeat (chase and status we just bought a guitar mix) by Nneka; Save the World (Radio Mix) by Swedish House Mafia; Don't you Worry Child, also by SHM; Fade Into Darkness (vocal..) and Silhouettes (radio...) by Avicii. Also, I really enjoy the version of Glad You Came by We Came As Romans for erging

So, if you get a CD called "Eternity" by The Clash (a punk rock band from the late 1970's), then play a song called "Straight to Hell" -- for me, anyway it really gets me going, I mean every ounce of fear will will turn to anger and passion.

I am a fan of Sail by Awolnation. It has a great beat but is does not have a fast tempo. It is great for longer steady pieces to keep you pumped but not let you get crazy. Another favorite from my country side is Barefoot Blue Jean Night by Jake Owen; another one that has a great beat, but not high tempo. For higher tempo/2K pace pieces Soldiers by Otherwise pretty much describes rowing in my mind, just listen to the lyrics, and Bleed It Out by Linkin Park is another high tempo song that really gets me pumped, along with Pain by Three Days Grace. Happy erging everyone!

Eminence Front, by The Who. Great for those steady state pieces. A funky, uptempo beat, and the lyric, "Come on join the party dressed to kill..." get me pumped every time.

not 'technically' a song...

for those long 3x6ks before work, i heartily recommend the Today Programme on BBC Radio Four.

develop your UT2 base and your knowledge of current events.

if you get down to the club before six am, you might even be lucky enough to catch Farming Today.
