This clip has been popular because of the Yank It!!! phrase but there are insights that can get forgotten due to the humorous nature of Mike’s instruction. Both Cam and Scott won silver medals at the 2004 and 2008 Olympics and demonstrate how the boat is only as fast as you send it and how the layback and rhythm was a byproduct of the focus on acceleration whilst keeping the blade buried at the finish.

Mike’s final comment about how the boat feels compared to how it looks is also interesting as it is common fault to stop pulling as hard as you can because the boat feels bad rather than you being tired. ????
