Duct Tape

Everyone I showed this to suggested I submit it to be the photo of the day. It's a picture of the novice girls I coach in Hingham, MA. I swear, the duct tape was not my idea. I just happened to supply it. Originally, it was just intended for five seat, but, with groupthink as it is among young girls, they all wanted to be included. I did, however, turn out to be one of our more productive practices...

Here's a picture out front of a State College Walmart where Penn State Crew was fundraising for "Pull for a Cure", which culminates this weekend at the Head of the Charles. Pull for a Cure is part of the American Cancer Society in the fight for Breast Cancer Awareness. It has also been a great way for us to spark interest in the community in rowing here in Central Pennsylvania.

Just Jump
Submitted by: Jesse Coote
(October 7, 2010)
Just got back from Head of the Trent Regatta last night, used a teammate's camera to snap some pictures while she was on the water. A rower from Leander Boat Club (3 seat) snapped an oar on a buoy during the race and remained in the boat as the crew traveled through the infamous canal. The hundreds of spectators lining the canal began to chant "just jump", and as the crew exited the canal, bowseat began yelling at his crewmate to "Be a hero!". This prompted the athlete to bail out of his boat into the icy water, much to the enjoyment of the spectators. I managed to catch this memorable Trent canal moment on camera, and feel that it needs to be shared!
