Coxed Seven Submitted by: Ross Brilakis (April 5, 2010)
This past weekend at the John Hunter Regatta in Lake Lanier, GA, my Men's Novice 8+ A-boat was 400m into the race when 4 seat caught an ejector crab and was thrown out. The coxswain told 5 seat to jettison the oar while the rest of the boat kept rowing. By this time they had fallen back to 5th place. They got back on the horse and managed to stay in the race and their lane. With 500m left they had crawled back into contention for 3rd but had 2 other boats to pass in order to get their. The coxswain called the rate and the sprint up and they managed to fly past the other teams and finish the flight in 3rd. I attached a picture of them in the middle of the sprint at the end of the race.
