The Philadelphia Gold Challenge Cup Foundation announced today that Glenmede will become the Premier Sponsor of the 2018 US Lotman Challenge, a series of three separate open weight rowing events for elite scullers.
The Challenge will begin with USRowing's first National Selection Regatta on April 17-20 in West Windsor, N.J., followed by the Head of The Charles Regatta on October 20 and culminating at the Head of the Schuylkill Regatta on October 27.
The mission of the Gold Challenge Cup Foundation is to promote and educate about the sport of amateur single scull rowing by hosting annual competitions such as the Lotman Challenge, as well as provide educational programs and scholarship opportunities.
"Glenmede is thrilled to partner with this dynamic, locally-founded organization for the next three years," said Laura LaRosa, Director of Client Development at Glenmede.
"Across the Gold Cup Foundation's founding and leadership, the Lotman Challenge embodies many of Glenmede's values: steadfast focus and efficiency, a ceaseless drive to be the best at what we do, and the desire to create a meaningful legacy. We believe with our support and the Foundation's remarkable passion for excellence, the Lotman Challenge will succeed in elevating acclaim for US sculling by inspiring the sport's premier talent."
Glenmede was founded in 1956 to serve in perpetuity as the investment manager and trustee of the Pew family's charitable interests. Today, Glenmede maintains their legacy with the Pew Charitable Trusts. Additionally, Glenmede extends their expertise to individuals and families, endowments, foundations, and institutions by providing highly customized investment, fiduciary and advisory services.
"We look forward to a long-term partnership with Glenmede," said Gold Challenge Cup Foundation Board Member Scot Fisher. "This is the first significant corporate sponsorship for the US Lotman Challenge and we deliberately chose to partner with Glenmede based on their commitment to excellence, advocacy within the communities they serve, and renowned presence here in Philadelphia. Through Glenmede's generosity, we have the ability to drive US sculling to national recognition and the sport's elite talent consistently onto international medal stands."
Glenmede's contribution will go directly to increasing the prize purse for the top eight male and female single scull competitors. Contribution will also support the Gold Cup Foundation's efforts in providing access to rowing through its 'learn to row' program with St. James School, a middle school in North Philadelphia.
