Gift from Athens rdjmc · January 4, 2011 Gold medalists Georgina and Caroline Evers-Swindell (now married and known as Georgina Earl and Caroline Meyer) recently gifted their gold medal winning skiff from the Athens Olympic Games (2004), the Oliver Smales Memorial Trust. This Trust was inspired by the twins when they were celebrity guests at a fundraising dinner organised by the Rotary Club of Taradale. This event raised $100000, and since then they have continued to support the work of the Trust. Their gold medals now hang the the Special Care Baby Unit at the Hawke's Bay District Hospital in Hastings, New Zealand. Gifting this boat resulted in another $16000 of donations being made to the Trust. The skiff is now in the care of the Hawke's Bay Rowing Club on long term loan, for the use of training and racing by the young rowers of the club.
