2017 Outlook - "Penn Lightweight Crew celebrates its 100th Anniversary this spring as the first lightweight crew in the country. The team is excited to get on the water and begin the spring racing season. The seniors have provided some great leadership and we are seeing all four classes working hard, contributing, and having fun while doing it. This year’s team is eager to add to the long legacy of Penn Lightweight Rowing."

The squad is getting contributions from all four classes and everyone is eagerly anticipating the spring racing. We know the lightweight league is filled with great athletes, coaches, and teams, so we’re looking forward to the challenge."

2015 Outlook - "The Quakers are on the grind in Philadelphia and we've been working hard to jump some levels since the start of the year. This is the lightweight league, so our expectation is for a lot of close racing this spring. The team is absolutely excited to get on the race course and compete."

2014 Outlook - "Once again we have a very fast group of young guys on our squad this year. The freshmen squad did a great job in the fall and have been progressing nicely this winter. The varsity is small with only 2 seniors, but is doing a good job progressing on a daily basis."

2015 Outlook - "We had some incidents of exceptional racing last spring, but an overall uneven season left our returners determined to change the outcome in the coming year. The squad reassembled in the fall with a significant amount of summer work under their belts (including two who competed at the U23 Worlds) and set about to forge a better season. Improving fall results and solid winter training are all leading in the right direction - toward command performance, every time."

2018 Outlook - "This is going to be a very challenging spring season and the squad has been very focused on finding improvements in every area of training and racing. The Doc Hosea Invitational has an improved field and the Ivy League Challenge weekend will be key early season tests. We have also added two new regattas for this spring with the Knecht Cup and Dale England Cup. We have solid veterans and a group of very hungry sophomores and freshmen who are competing hard for seats at every opportunity."

Not to mention we also had some very outstanding performances from many of our other crews, especially our 2nd Varsity 8+ which had a great season. Our 2V and Varsity C4+’s success really helped to lay the foundation for hard work, team unity as well a vision of success that we want to reach this year. With one of the largest teams in the Ivy League and plan to build on our success from last year, as we prep for what should be a very exciting spring campaign."

We are excited to continue to build as we transition out of winter training and to see how that translates on the water and against our competition.”
