2019 Outlook - "Having graduated a large class of seniors last year, who proved to be the catalyst for a lot of the positive strides the program has taken over the past few years, this year’s team has an air of youth about it. We are excited to see how our talented group of freshmen step into their role and how our sophomore class can add speed to the program after a difficult foundational year last year. There is experience in the group in the upperclassmen, but this is a team whose development we expect to be steep and exciting. We maintain our lofty goals, but are realistic that it takes some time to see the fruits of their efforts. We have a challenging slate of races in the spring, starting with the Cardinal Invite and including the Clemson invite, Michigan and, for the first time, a trip to the Sunshine State Invitational. The fall racing has given us an idea of where we need to improve, and the team is training consistently well and diligently for us to expect some competitive performances in the spring, culminating at the ACC championships. Go Cards!"

2018 Outlook - "After a good fall season and successful showings at Head of the Charles and the Rivanna Romp, we are excited to kick off a very competitive spring schedule hosting the Oak Ridge Cardinal Invite, which includes many teams that competed at the 2017 NCAA Championships-Notre Dame, Michigan, Virginia, Wisconsin, and Yale. We look forward to racing out west at the Pac 12 Invite, and the Clemson Invitational is always a great test of speed. We anticipate some fast racing at our ACC Conference Championships and the team is eager to compete for a bid to return to the NCAA Championships this year."

2017 Outlook - "The team has been putting in a lot of solid work this winter. We had two very successful trips down to Florida in December and February and we look forward to continuing our gains in speed this spring. We have a great racing schedule lined up for this year beginning with the Oak Ridge Cardinal Invite, which includes many NCAA teams from 2016. We will also be racing Big Ten opponents throughout the season as well as many others at the Clemson Invitational. We anticipate some great competition at the ACC Conference Championship as well, and look forward to returning to the NCAA Championships this year."

2016 Outlook - "The team, while young, has been making huge strides this winter. We had a very successful training trip in Miami and will be returning to Florida twice in February to continue to gain speed on the water. We are looking forward to a very competitive schedule this spring, beginning with the Oak Ridge Cardinal Invite which includes many NCAA teams from 2015. We will be racing Big Ten opponents Iowa, Indiana, Michigan, and Ohio State throughout April as well as racing at the Clemson Invitational. As this is our second year in the ACC, we are ready to make a statement at Conference Championships and look forward to returning to the NCAA Championships this year."

2014 Outlook - "We expect our Spring 2014 results to reflect our regularly improving athletes and resources. Our work throughout the Fall and Winter will put us in a good position for the AAC Championships in mid-May. The team has come a long way regarding how they train- at practice and on their own. They’ve gained an extraordinary amount of speed in the 10th-30th varsity spots. I expect that these gains will increase the competitiveness of the 2V8 and V4 as we continue to strive for our first ever appearance at NCAAs. I am very proud of how this team has risen to the new standards that the coaches have laid out. GO CARDS!"

2013 Outlook - "We return all major contributors from last spring and the race experience is key. The team has made some great strides this winter with first year athletes stepping up to challenge many of the upperclassmen for top seats, and I think that the intra squad competition will lead to more depth this spring. We will test our speed early in March as we open the season against a competitive field at the Cardinal Oak Ridge Invitational. We follow that race up with duals at Tennessee and against Wisconsin and Minnesota in Iowa. We will finish our regular season racing with the Clemson Regatta, before final preparations for the Big East Championships at the end of May. We expect the racing at the conference championships to be faster than ever and we hope to be in the mix with last year's leaders."

2012 Outlook - "This is definitely a rebuilding year for us, but what they lack in 'seniority' they have made up with grit and guts. This is a really tenacious group and they have seen incredible gains throughout the year as a result. We have had a really positive fall and winter with growth where we needed to see growth while also learning the lessons that we need to learn to fully prepare us for our spring racing season. There is no substitute for experience out on the race course so we have to keep our heads in the game and really focus on learning something every practice along with every time we line up on the race course."
