Going Crabbing

The boat is the Detroit Boat Club Junior Women’s 2x. Both girls raced this spring multiple times and in each race caught boat-stopping crabs, however, still pulling off open water victories. Leading up to the Youth National Championships, the boat was unnamed. The decision to name the boat “We Caught Crabs L” was made. The girls won the YNC by 4.7 seconds – this time no crabs!

I recently returned from a 3 week trip to Europe and happened to be in Venice during the Vogalonga, their annual 30k(!) race/procession around the archipelago. Unfortunately I never caught up to the Boston quad from Union Boat club but did get a few shots of the craziness in the canal. Not the best photos but colorful at least...

Viking Rowing Clubs Intermediate 8 of Summer 2009 after they got waked by a cigarette boat in the back bays of Absecon Island. Not able to get back to the dock before sinking they were forced to beach in the mud and empty their boat. Their coach sank almost to her hips due to the weight of the oars and the softness of the mud.
