University of Iowa, Yale and Connecticut Boat Club crew members sporting Laces for Lana.
Laces For Lana is a Yale Women's crew initiative to honor Lana Ritzel, the mother of two of our teammates who passed away of breast cancer last November. Every $5 pair of Laces supports the Get In Touch Foundation, a breast health education program. Teams across the country at the high school, collegiate and masters levels alike are Lacing up-most recently the US National Team rocked the laces at the World Championships in Bled! We will have a stand at Head of the Charles, but if you don't find yourself in Boston this weekend, you can also check out our website at http://getintouchfoundation.org/laces-for-lana. Thank you for all the support we've received so far from the rowing community and we hope to get even more rowers Laced up soon!
Team Woz

(October 19, 2011)
Members of the PRAA, Nereid and Ridgewood Crew in Team Woz gear. On July 31st, Helen Woznack, a beloved rower, coach and coxswain, was seriously injured in a skydiving accident. With head and spinal injuries, Helen’s ability to move, talk or function on her own was uncertain. Now walking and recently released from a rehab center, Helen is making a miraculous recovery. PRAA, Nereid and Ridgewood Crew rowers have set out to raise $17,000 for Helen by rowing in her honor at this year’s Head of the Charles Regatta. Boats will be competing as “Team Woz” in the Women’s Master’s 8+, Women’s Club 8+ and Women’s Master’s 1x. In addition, two boats from Ridgewood High School and one Nereid junior single will row as Team Woz. Read more at www.nereidbc.org

Here is a photo of the Osnabrück Gymnasium rowers that visited Newport as a part of their California tour (pictured heading out the jetty to the Pacific Ocean). The group rowed out of NAC for two days and then drove down to SDRC. After that, they will then go up to Lake Tahoe and Oakland (the host program) during their 3 week stay in the USA. Apparently, In-N-Out is a big hit with the kids.
