Phil Jonik of Inverness/Point Reyes, CA doesn't let Social Distancing prevent him from enjoying open-water rowing on lovely Tomales Bay. An inspired hack makes solo management of his car-topped Maas Aero a snap. And a 'kick-in-the-pants' of a chuckle was had by recipients of the photo!

Bittersweet Normalcy

Under normal circumstances, Grosse Ile High School would've unloaded the trailer today after its annual spring training trip to Marietta, OH. When Michigan schools were initially closed for a month and spring sports "postponed", we finished painting a few sets of oars with the hope that we'd get to scratch them up this season. Today, my boys helped me peel some tape and hang them up. This little bit of bittersweet normalcy served as a reminder of the many little things I'll miss this season. I keep reminding myself that rowers are good at waiting. Keep getting better and stay safe.
