Muckross Rowing Club, Killarney beat the worlds most coveted rivals Oxford and Cambridge Boat Clubs, in a challenge race for the 'Lakes of Killarney Salters Cup' racing on the Lakes of Killarney on Sunday, in the KIllarney Rowing Festival, celebrating the 228th Killarney Regatta, the oldest surviving regatta in the World. The six Killarney Rowing Clubs, challenged Oxford and Cambridge to row the 'Killarney Sixes' a unique boat built by Salters of Oxford. Coxing the Oxford crew was Raymond Coffey,Fossa RC, Killarney, who's own Fossa Club took second. Cambridge Boat Club came 3rd, coxed by Mikey Joe Burns, Workmen's RC, Killarney, the other rowing clubs competing included, Commercials RC, St Brendan's RC, Flesk Valley RC, and Workmen's RC.
