Fordham? Really? I’m pretty sure the Newport junior light 8 would beat you! and I guaranty the Newport varsity 8 would... they won San Diego Crew Classic by boat lengths of open water, they just about swept every race at Southwest Junior Regional Championships which is without doubt the fastest region and they are only a second or two behind the Varsity 8 at Orange Coast college who won San Diego Crew Classic and just took third by 3 seconds to Trinity and Michigan at ECAC championships
I pray to God that you are being sarcastic. First off, I hate to break it to you, but no one cares about the Southwest Junior Regionals. Maybe if you sent a boat to a real race like Stotesbury or the Youth Nationals you would see how truly pathetic your program probably is. Second, I know you are probably really excited because your boat's erg average is just under 6:40 or whatever other mediocre benchmark you set for yourselves. But don't try and compare any HS boat to a varsity lightweight program, especially one like Fordham who boasts several 6:20s ergs (pretty impressive for a Dad Vail school). Just so you know, based of ranking and comparison to the V8 invitational times, my bet is that Fordham would have been able to run low 5:50s at the crew classic. I look forward to racing them in the A final at IRAs
Yeah Fordham!!! Did you have fun racing in the A final? Oh wait you were too busy getting last place in the Petite... you didn't even break 6min on a course where teams were going 5:30
And remind me again when the last time a stotesbury team won the men's 8 at Youth Nationals? It's hard to remember seeing as it's been won by Southwest teams 4 out of the last 5 years
sounds like some Fordhamites are getting kinda cocky
if we go to the history books, it looks like last year at the IRA the Dad Vails winner came in 2nd to last - beating only the crew who came in 2nd at Dad Vails
as I once said, "How'd he finish? Dead last? He had a good day though"
Dowling 6 seat is nominated because after Dowling crossed the finish line (First in the Women's D II/III 8 at Vail's), she passed out cold, head first into the water, and only didn't fall completely in because 5 seat grabbed the back of her uni and hauled her back into the boat! There are pictures in the Dad Vail's gallery.
This poll wont explain the recognition that Fordham L8 deserves. Thats all. Very impressive. Hope my comment didnt come across as offensive it wasnt meant in that manner.
I would like "row2k1" to give and explanation as to why Fordham shouldn't be on this list.... Fordham totally deserves it.... They won Dad Vails by open water, have been racing against heavyweight crews all season and have been destroying them all...they deserve it a million times more than anyone else on this list, hands down.
I rowed against the Fordham Light 4 last year at Vails and saw the Light 8 this year...they might have been seeded third but i saw them at Knecht and knew they were going to win Vails...A fast crew that rows clean and has a lot of boat seed. I think they deserve the recognition especially for a club crew team.
Fordham was seeded 3rd at dadvails and managed to win by a pretty large margin. You also have to consider that fordham is a club team that rows out of shipping containers and some how they are ranked in the top 10 on some polls with ivy schools. I don't know sounds like they've been working pretty hard over there and deserve some recognition.
Perhaps a Boiler maker you are. What is your Perdue University's Crew budget? Fordham's Men's Crew is a nonfunded club team and will beat your boiled asses by open water. You won heavy. You did not win against FORDHAM UNIVERSITY lights. Just give us the shot and you'll learn who was the best boat at the Vails
John Fischer, it's PURDUE, not Perdue. And it's a club too. Each member pays ~$1500-2000 to participate each year. And, Purdue's time was 4 seconds faster than Fordham's. Same conditions for the events. I saw the races. Fordham had faster water too. Love the smack talk though. Too bad you can't really put your money where your mouth is.
Good race seven seat. We will see your times at the IRAs. Let's make a bet on who will place higher and by what time. No insult intended calling you a Perdue Chicken.
