The long road to Rio 2016 has filled up a lot slots following the 2015 World Championships last month, but there is still a lot to be decided before crews line up on the Lagoa Rodrigo de Freitas in Brazil for 31st Olympiad. Here is the up to the minute status of qualification following the World Champs and African Qualification Regatta.
There are a minimum of two slots available in each event, with the slots being won at the four continental qualification regattas and the Final Olympic Qualification Regatta (FOQR).
CONTINENTAL QUALIFICATION REGATTAS
-African Qualification Regatta – October 5-7, 2015 in Tunis, TUN. Results here

-The continental qualifiers are only for the M1x, LM2x, W1x, and LW2x events
-Each country may only qualify a max of one male and one female boat at the four continental qualification regattas. This excludes the FOQR events
-The FOQR is for the M2-, M2x, M4-, M4x, M8+, LM4-, W2-, W2x, W4x, and W8+ events
-The European Qualifier and FOQR will be run concurrently in Lucerne but are separate events
-The European Qualifier includes all unqualified European crews plus unqualified crews from AUS, CAN, NZL, and USA
-The four tripartite invites (2 in W1x, 2 in M1x) are FISA discretionary slots following all the qualification regattas
