West Windsor, NJ - Princeton National Rowing Association ("PNRA") and the Women's Rowing Coaches from Northeastern University, Radcliff, Syracuse, University of Massachusetts, University of Pennsylvania and Virginia are pleased to announce the inaugural Women's Collegiate Small Boat Challenge Regatta. This event will be held at the Caspersen Rowing Center on Mercer Lake, Sunday November 3, 2013. The regatta will showcase the top women's collegiate rowers in the 2-, 2x and 1x events. The event is expected to attract rowers from Universities across the country.
"This regatta is ideally situated to provide small boat training and racing opportunities for collegiate athletes, at a time in their schedule when it is least likely to conflict with their NCAA big boat goals," said Justin Moore, Women's Rowing Coach, Syracuse University. "Small boat rowing is an outstanding way to increase athlete accountability and skills. This regatta also provides an opportunity for athletes to race in three additional Olympic boat-classes that are not available in the NCAA format."
The Collegiate Small Boat Regatta will kick-off with a time trial race in each event in the morning. The results of the time trial will be used to place crews in finals scheduled for the afternoon. All racing will utilize the 2000 meter race course on Mercer Lake.
"We are pleased to be a part of the inaugural Collegiate Small Boat Challenge," stated PNRA's Executive Director Kristopher Grudt. "It is a great opportunity to be involved in an event that will certainly become one of the premier rowing events of the fall racing season."
Registration for the Collegiate Small Boat Challenge is now open on RegattaCentral. Entries from each school maybe limited depending on the number of overall entries. The deadline for submitting entries is 11:59pm EDT, October 11, 2013.
