INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - USRowing has announced the 35 athletes who have made the 2005 Junior National Team.
The U.S. will have five junior women's crews and four junior men's crews racing at the 2005 FISA Junior World Rowing Championships August 3-6 in Brandenburg, Germany. Junior crews competing at the regatta include the junior men's single sculls, junior women's single sculls, junior men's double sculls, junior women's double sculls, junior women's pair, junior women's four, junior men's four with coxswain, junior men's eight and junior women's eight.
The pair, four, four with coxswain and eights were selected by the junior national team coaching staff at the men and women's selection camps. The singles and doubles earned their right to compete at the junior world championships by winning the 2005 Junior National Team Selection Trials last month in West Windsor, N.J.
Of the 35 team members, 11 are returning from last year including Desiree Burns, Kari Stenbakken, Lori Gordon, Alie Fishman, Annie Gayman, Lauren Hofmayer, Erin Knox, Caitlin McGrath, Jesse Johnson, Henrik Rummel and Neil Stanga. Last year, the U.S. failed to medal at the junior world championships. The top finish came in the junior women's four, where Knox, McGrath and Burns led the U.S. to a fourth-place finish.
