Luke Cunningham has been named the new Northeast Sales Representative for WinTech Racing. He succeeds Brendan Crotty who will begin his role as the Director of Operations.
"Luke Cunningham's new role in the WinTech Racing organization is a key move for us and will support our 2010 campaign to become the number one boat manufacturer and distributor in the world of rowing," states Brendan Crotty, WinTech Racing's Director of Operations. "Hiring Luke has already strengthened our reputation as a company. He is passionate about the sport and loves meeting new people. On top of that he knows how to prepare and is driven to succeed. I'll look forward to supporting him as he dedicates himself to providing great boats with the best service in the industry; something I truly believe has brought WinTech into the spotlight as we enter our seventh year."
Like Crotty, Cunningham is an experienced oarsmen and coach. A Brown University graduate and proud native of Philadelphia, Cunningham attended Monsignor Bonner High School. Luke rowed only one semester in high school but Bonner won its first City Championship in 25 years that season. He continued to row in college and flourished at Brown; holding down the 4 seat in Brown's varsity eight for three years 1999- 2001.
Cunningham was a two-time All-Ivy selection. He earned bronze medals at the 2000 Under-23 World Championships and the 2001 World Cup. He also finished in the top 10 at CRASH-B's twice.
Luke graduated from Brown in 2001 with a bachelor's degree in history. Following graduation, he taught humanities at The Island School on Eleuthera, Bahamas (where he won the Eleuthera Half Marathon) and coached at the Brunswick School. Luke lives on the Upper West Side of Manhattan and is a regular stand-up comedy performer at clubs in New York City.
