Charity: In 1998, the Head Of the CharlesĀ® Regatta began a charity program to provide contributions to five local charities. Ted Mac Mahon heads up the program. The program is open to 30 applicants, and any single sculler or crew is eligible to apply. By July 1st, participants must raise and collect a minimum of $1,000 for one or more of the official charities. Upon fulfilling this commitment, participants receive a guaranteed entry into the singles or crew event of their choice for the 2001 Regatta. Approximately $38,000 was raised last year for charities. The Head Of The CharlesĀ® Regatta charities include:
American Red Cross of Massachusetts Bay
Cambridge Community Foundation
Community Rowing, Inc.
The Home for Little Wanderers
National Rowing Foundation
