UPDATED 6/16 - Full Entry List now available here.
If you follow @SleepstoHRR, or just have a general sense that summer is here, you will know that the 2022 Henley Royal Regatta waits just around the corner: booms, drones, blazers and all.
Indeed, Henley also arrives "one sleep" earlier this year as HRR debuts its newly added 6th day, with racing now starting on the Tuesday (June 28th) to accommodate the growing number of events and competitors.
Here then, is your early look at some of the US crews who have already announced their plans to hop the pond this year. This list is based purely on social media rumors and the occasional press release mention of a Henley trip, so if your crew is Henley-bound, too, just let us know here and we will add you to this list.
Yale Light Men won Sprints
Based on the various crumbs of evidence we have found, it appears that the Regatta expects a truly robust number of US crews this year. Last year, just 41 Overseas competitors attended--down from the 159 who raced in 2019, the last pre-COVID Regatta--and just 12 of those hailed from the States: Green Lake's Junior Women, St. Joe's Prep's Junior Boys, TBC Racing, Vesper, and a fleet of scullers from Craftsbury's Green Racing Project. GRP's Maggie Fellows made it the furthest last summer, bowing out on the Saturday in her W1x semi-final.
Here's who we've heard say "Headed to Henley" this year, so far:
- Brown Women
- Brooks Junior Men
- Brunswick Junior Men
- Bucknell Men
- Cal-Berkeley Men
