For folks who car-top singles or even the occasional pair/double, here's a great rowing hack that Filippi's Fabio Selvig suggested: the Reflective Bow Card.
People can use this trick--as Fabio puts it--"to save their bows from getting chopped off in hotel parking lots," which, we can all agree, isn't something you want to include on any road trip.
When car-topping, it's usually the stern folks worry about, and while a stern flag remains an absolute--and legal--necessity, what about the bow? Sure, you can keep an eye on it as you drive, but this hack comes in handy if you have to park anywhere along the way, or stop for the night in a crowded hotel lot.
Here is Fabio's simple how-to for putting your bow clip to work:
His idea, another clever play on the old Bow Number Bow Light Hack, puts both those old race numbers you've been accumulating and your bow clip to good use when you hit the road for the next race.
Naturally, this hack works best for boats traveling without a cover, so that you can access the bow number clip, and you will certainly find this easy bit of repurposing a lot cheaper than buying a cover.
Do you have a good way travel tip like this one? If so, share your ideas--and hacks--in the comments below.
If you have a great rowing hack to suggest for future inclusion, then please send it to us like Fabio did and we will feature your idea in a future column.
