WSU 8+ fleet at Lake Bryan in 1975: NEAR BOAT TITANIC bow- Steve Weed CENTER BOAT TYEE bow- Jim Rudd, 2- Dave Yorozu, 3- Doug Kee, 4- Paul Day, 5- Fred Darvil, 6- Roland Rouss FAR BOAT COUGAR ONE 6- Steve Porter, 7- Tom Kratzke, stroke- Paul Enquist, cox- Mike Klier. The Titanic with distinctive white riggers and Tyee were survivors of Black Thursday. The double hulled Titanic was rented from Conn Findlay and was rowed back. The Tyee, gifted from UW, was towed back. The Cougar One was the first new eight purchased by the program. Bow oar of the Titanic shows the final evolution of the blade livery. Prior to the Mid-Western Sprints Cougar Crew oars were solid red as selected by Coach Oar and was also University of Wisconsin's pattern. For the Sprints, a black chevron was added. Gray tips were added after the Sprints in Burnaby following a comment by a Canadian: ?Aren?t your colors crimson and gray?? Thank you Ken Struckmyer for sharing this bit if history!
