It was an epic year for the New Zealand women's pair of Kerri Gowler and Grace Prendergast. The crew took double gold at the world rowing championships in Austria, winning both the pair and the eight. They were the first crew to win two golds at a world championships since the Kiwi men's pair won the M2- and M2+ in 2014 and Erin Cafaro and Susan Francia won the W2- and W8+ in 2009. Additional wins in 2019 were both the W2- and W8+ at Henley Royal, the W2- at World Cup II, and the W8+ at World Cup III.
