First Coast Rowing Club, one of Florida’s premier youth rowing programs, has a history of excellence since its founding over thirty years ago. Over the years, our crews have amassed numerous State titles in both sweep and sculling events, a tradition that continues. We focus our middle school students on sculling, initially in singles but eventually in doubles and quads, and introduce them to sweep rowing by the time they start high school. Our high schoolers train at both sculling and sweep rowing, and successfully race both.
First Coast’s athletes come from about two dozen different middle and high schools in the greater Jacksonville area. There are several local schools not yet represented, so we have room for growth. And our infrastructure can support developing more young athletes. We currently own 20 singles, 6 pairs/doubles, 6 fours, 5 quads, and 3 eights. We have 4 wakeless coaching launches to oversee our crews. We seek to grow our staff with coaches who can inspire junior rowers. Although prior coaching experience is desirable, we very much value new coaches who have experienced great coaching themselves. We recognize a solid, personal rowing background enables one to pass on that experience and knowledge. Ours is a congenial environment with supportive parents and we offer competitive compensation.
First Coast is a 501(c)(3) whose mission is to help children establish strong character, learn life skills and develop both physically and emotionally through the sport of rowing. If you believe you may want to help us with this objective, please email your resume to [email protected].
