The Oregon Association of Rowers (OAR) is seeking a new Head Coach. The position would be responsible for weekend practices (potentially some weekdays), on-boarding new novices, supervising assistant coaches, aiding in regatta planning, and providing programing for a master's club of about 70 members. The pay range will be between $35,000 and $45,000 annually and would be commensurate with experience, willingness to assist in the running of regattas, and the number of practices offered each week. We are especially looking for a coach who can provide comprehensive planning for practice, strong technique development for rowers in both sweep and sculling boats, and positive club culture. The successful candidate should have excellent communication skills, and at least a US Rowing Level 2 coaching certification (or Level 1 while pursuing Level 2).
OAR is a masters rowing program located in Lowell State Park at picturesque Dexter Lake, just 25 minutes from Eugene, Oregon. We have a brand-new 3-bay boathouse and a fleet of 23 club-owned boats. OAR hosts the Covered Bridge Regatta each spring and has also hosted the PAC-12 Championships and the Northwest Masters Regional Championships. OAR works closely with the Eugene Rowing Club (junior team) and the University of Oregon (club collegiate team) and there may be additional coaching opportunities with either partner organizations to supplement salary.
